poison by Sodium Fluoride

Ant powders and roach powders often contain sodium fluoride. This white powder resembles in appearance baking soda, baking powder, or flour. Cases of poisoning therefore often result when the cook or housewife fails to read the label or carelessly stores the product with foodstuffs. If untreated, this poisoning may cause death within eight hours.
Symptoms include excessive production of saliva, abdominal cramps, vomiting of blood, failure of respiration, and heart failure (convulsions may occur). The kidneys are subject to severe damage.

WHAT TO DO
Get the victim to drink lime water, milk, or powdered chalk stirred into water. Then induce vomiting with syrup of ipecac as instructed in To Induce Vomiting under PROCEDURE E. After vomiting, the victim should drink more lime water, milk, or chalk slurry. Keep the victim quiet and warm. From here on the victim should be under a physician's care.
